How much does a TAXIBOX cost?

Our pricing depends on where we’re delivering to, how many TAXIBOXES you need and for how long. We’re very transparent with our pricing, so you can find out how much a TAXIBOX will cost you with an instant quote.

How big is a TAXIBOX?

Big. 2.4m long, 1.5m wide and 2.2m high externally or 2.32m long, 1.46m wide and 2m high internally. TAXIBOXES also have a large door for easy access and can hold up to 1 tonne of weight. Wondering how much can fit in a TAXIBOX? Try our Storage Calculator.

What is each TAXIBOX made out of?

Our mobile self-storage units are built from a breathable, wood composite. This makes them stable during transit, without trapping moisture inside – greatly reducing the chance of mold or mildew.

Our on-site storage units & cool rooms are built from solid steel, for maximum protection while your items are being stored at your place.

Is my TAXIBOX weather resistant?

Yes – each wooden TAXIBOX is covered with a highly durable, weather-resistant cover when not in our indoor storage facility. Both our wooden and metal TAXIBOXES are also raised off the ground, to ensure that your belongings are safe and dry should it rain while your TAXIBOX is outdoors.

How many TAXIBOXES will I need?

Generally, you will need one TAXIBOX for every 1-1.5 rooms’ worth of items – to see how many TAXIBOXES you may need, try our Storage Calculator. If in doubt, you can always order an extra TAXIBOX as you won’t pay for it unless you use it!

Is my reservation deposit refundable?

We understand that the best of plans can change and we will happily refund your reservation deposit, provided you notify us of your decision to cancel more than 7 days before your TAXIBOX was due to be delivered. Here’s our full cancellation policy.

Do you give discounts if I get multiple TAXIBOXES?

Where can TAXIBOXES be placed?

Provided there is a height clearance of 2.3m, virtually anywhere! To paint a picture, a TAXIBOX can fit into any space that can house your average car. This includes time-limited parking and access areas. Here’s more details on placement, permits & restrictions.

How do I prepare and pack my belongings for transit?

Are there any items I cannot put in my TAXIBOX?

Yes – for safety reasons you cannot store any of the following items:

  • Flammable or hazardous goods (e.g. batteries)
  • Firearms, munitions or explosives
  • Toxic, polluted or contaminated goods
  • Expandable plastics (e.g. foam mattresses)
  • Living plants or animals
  • Food or perishable goods (unless you’re using a Cool Room, of course)
  • Illegal goods
  • Waste

Mobile Storage

How do I pay for my TAXIBOXES?

When you book your TAXIBOX, we charge a reservation fee which will go towards your first month of storage. Once your TAXIBOX/ES are safely back at our facility, we take the balance of the first month plus any additional services (like packing supplies) used. For ongoing monthly payments, the easiest way is to leave your card details on your account for automatic monthly payments. Alternatively, there are a range of other payment options.

What happens if I don’t get my TAXIBOXES packed in time?

Just give us a call! Provided you give us plenty of notice, we’ll do our absolute best to accommodate changes. In some circumstances, we may need to charge for a lost delivery slot, but we’ll try to avoid this where possible. See our Change Policy for more details.

I’m thinking of moving to a regional/rural location, can you help?

We currently offer delivery only in the metro areas of the cities we operate in. The quickest way to find if your place is inside our delivery zone is to input your postcode as part of an instant quote.

If you might be moving somewhere outside our delivery zone, we may still be the best option for you. Coming to our facility to empty your TAXIBOX will still mean you receive our highly competitive rates PLUS we’ll give you a discount for not needing to re-deliver your TAXIBOX.

How much time do I have to load/unload my TAXIBOX?

If we can leave your TAXIBOX on private property, you can have as much time as you like to load/unload items. If we’re leaving your TAXIBOX on a nearby street, we’ll need to come back the next day to collect it. Find out more information on our delivery options.

Will TAXIBOX load my TAXIBOX for me?

While your driver isn’t insured to do any heavy-lifting, we can arrange removalists to arrive after your TAXIBOX has been delivered. For more information, including pricing, head to our removalist page.

When can I access my TAXIBOX?

You can access your TAXIBOX 6 days a week, 9am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday or 9am – 2pm on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays & public holidays.

For security reasons, to arrange access, you need to fill out this quick form at least 1 business day in advance.

How do I get my items back?

Just fill in our re-delivery form and we’ll take care of the rest. Note: We do need at least 7 days’ notice.

If I empty my TAXIBOX at the TAXIBOX storage facility will a re-delivery fee still apply?

For each TAXIBOX that has been stored with us, a check-out fee may be payable at the end of your storage term if you would like to collect the contents of your TAXIBOX from our storage facility. Check-out fees are just $49 per TAXIBOX delivered and stored for less than 3 months or FREE after 3 months of storage! This is discounted from the standard re-delivery fee and is applied because there is considerable work for us in getting your TAXIBOXES ready for check-out even if we aren’t required to deliver them to you.

What is mobile self-storage and what are the advantages over traditional self-storage?

The main difference is that we bring the storage unit to you. That means:

  1. There’s need to drive out to a storage facility
  2. You don’t need to hire a ute or van, and
  3. You only need to load/unload your items the once. Your belongings go from your door straight into your TAXIBOX!

Is TAXIBOX’s mobile self-storage more expensive than traditional self-storage?

Nope! Bringing a TAXIBOX to you means you don’t fork out on shipping your items to a storage facility. We’re very transparent with our pricing, so you can find out yourself with an instant quote.

On-site Storage

Is my TAXIBOX secure while on my property?

Yes! Our on-site TAXIBOXES are made from 100% solid steel and the keys for your lock are yours and yours only (we don’t even keep a copy). Here’s the full spec.

What happens if I need to keep my on-site TAXIBOX for longer?

Not a problem – we’ll continue to charge an ongoing, monthly storage fee for your TAXIBOX while it’s on your property. When you’re ready for us to collect it, just give us a call.

Cool Storage

How many days before my event should I have my TAXIBOX Cool Room delivered?

If you’re planning on chilling already room-temperature items, you’ll need your Cool Room delivered a couple of days before your event. For optimal cooling, ensure items you need to cool quickly are spaced apart as items stacked on top of each other can work to slow their temperature decrease.

Can shelving be supplied inside my TAXIBOX Cool Room?

Yes! If you need to keep things organised, we can include shelving inside your Cool Room. For more information, see our Cool Room page.

Do I need a generator to power my TAXIBOX Cool Room?

Only if your Cool Room is going somewhere remote. Otherwise, it can be plugged straight into a regular power outlet.
